Whetstone Good Neighbour Scheme has been operational since 31st October 2016, providing valuable support to the community.

Since the Good Neighbours scheme project started on 31st October 2016 they have completed 700 different jobs for the residents of Whetstone and have steadily grew in numbers of volunteers and of service users.

To help the project to grow is support from local businesses, grant support from Leicestershire county Council and Blaby District Council, community support and other fundraising activities.

The project has developed good partnerships with other local voluntary and community groups to help deliver joined up services ,for example the good neighbours scheme works closely with the Leicestershire animal aid scheme and the community bus partnership to sign post people were their services, times and operations overlap.

Due to their valuable work that is making a difference in their community, the Whetstone Good neighbours' scheme was announced as winner of the Best Community group/ community achievement section in the Blaby District Council Annual Outstanding Achievement Awards in 2017.
