This section of the website provides a range of support, information and resources related to Grants and Funding.
Information provided here includes a series of Funding Bulletins, from a range of funders, along with details of support provided to voluntary and community sector groups, charities and social enterprises, by other relevant organisations.
Leicestershire County Council's SHIRE Community Grants programme provides grant funding to charities and other voluntary/community organisations and social enterprises, to support the delivery of services, projects and activities which improve the lives of vulnerable and disadvantaged people and groups.
Grants of up to £3,000 are available for community based projects an activities in Leicestershire which help to improve the local environment through waste prevention, reducing carbon and improving biodiversity.
Leicestershire County Council will be awarding funding to Leicestershire schools, charity, voluntary and community sector organisations and other out of school and holiday activity organisations to deliver holiday activities (which include a healthy food provision) for children eligible for benefits-related free school meals during the Easter, Summer and Christmas 2022 holiday periods.
The Leicestershire Communities Fund was established in March 2020, as an response to the Covid-19 pandemic.
During 2020-21, 379 grants were awarded through the Communities Fund, which provided nearly £2.6 million in grant funding to support the work of a range of charities, community groups and social enterprises, enabling them to continue to deliver vital services, despite the impact of the Coronavirus pandemic.
LCC Monthly Funding Information Bulletins
Funding & Grants Information Bulletins are produced by Leicestershire County Council, on a monthly basis, using information from a range of sources.
Bulletins will include funding opportunities which are mainly for the benefit of not-for-profit community organisations, charities and social enterprises.
However, some of the information will also be relevant for local authorities and other organisations, such as academic institutions.

The Leicestershire Funding Toolkit is a free searchable database of funding opportunities, hosted on Voluntary Action Leicestershire's website.
The Funding Toolkit contains details of thousands of local, regional and national funding opportunities for not-for-profit organisations operating in Leicestershire.
The website is free-to-use, and requires you to complete a simple one-off registration form to enable you to use the website.
Once you have registered as a user on the website, you will be able to benefit from the following:
- Access to a range of grants and funding opportunities
- Information about national funding available, along with funding available from trusts and foundations
- A series of pages dedicated to local funding opportunities
- Opportunities to undertake targeted funding searches and the ability to save the details of each search
- A weekly email bulletin with details of new funding opportunities

Online Funding & Information Resources
My Funding Central is a database of grant funding and social investment sources. This service is available to organisations with an annual income below £1m and is free for organisations under £30k.
The Directory of Social Change manage the Funds Online website (subscription required).
NCVO also wealth of information on grants, fundraising and public services on their website.
Melton Borough Council has compiled a very useful source of funding organisations
Leicestershire & Rutland Community Foundation run a number of grant programmes for not-for-profit organisations operating in Leicestershire. You can see the current funds administered by the Community Foundation on its Apply for Funds web page
Active Together (formerly Leicestershire & Rutland Sport) can provide advice and support for sports clubs and groups to help identify appropriate sources of funding and additional support. L&R Sport also have a Funding Finder toolkit on their website, with details of funding opportunities for sports and related related activities and projects.

East Midlands Funding Forum - Funding Bulletins
The East Midlands Funding Forum (EMFF) provides a monthly e-bulletin on sources of funding and other useful information for the voluntary, community and social enterprise sector (VCSE).
Support with Running Your Organisation
Voluntary Action Leicestershire provides a range of support for voluntary and community sector groups. This includes information, advice and training around setting up a community group/organisation; fundraising and income generation; assistance with reviewing grant applications; recruiting and managing volunteers; and business and sustainability planning for your organisation.
If you are a social enterprise, co-operative or Community Interest Company (CIC) in Leicestershire, you can access support from CASE.
A comprehensive range of information is also available via the Knowhownonprofit.org website.
Another great source of useful information, advice and guidance for small charities (with income of less than £1 million) can be found on the Small Charities Coalition website.
If you are a trustee/committee member of a charity or community group, there is lots of useful information on the gov.uk website.
The Resource Centre website is another excellent source of information and support for people interested in setting up and running a community group.
The Association of Chairs is a membership organisation supporting Chairs / Vice Chairs of charities and social enterprises. The organisation has a range of resources which can help Chairs of trustee boards to ensure their organisation is run effectively.
The Institute for Voluntary Action Research (IVAR) helps to strengthen voluntary and community sector organisations and those that support them, through a range of research, insights and learning. The IVAR website contains a series of research reports, along with other guidance, frameworks and other information which will be of use to community organisations.
Impactasaurus is a website which helps community organisations to improve the way they demonstrate the impact they make through their work. This can help organisations to be more effective at what they do, as well as helping them to attract more funding.
Top Tips For Strengthening Your Organisation
Noel Singh (LCC Funding Manager) delivered a workshop presentation on 'Strengthening Your Organisation' to a group of voluntary, community and social enterprise sector organisations, at Voluntary Action LeicesterShire's 'Future Focus' VCS Conference in September 2018. The workshop involved sharing and discussing top tips for VCSE organisations, to ensure they are successful in achieving their aims, as well as securing a financially sustainable future.
