£110m Rural England Prosperity Fund unveiled

The Rural England Prosperity Fund (REPF) was launched on 3 September 2022 and succeeds EU funding from LEADER and the Growth Programme which were part of the Rural Development Programme for England.

Rural areas often face specific challenges including lower productivity rates, poorer connectivity, and poorer access to key services. The REPF funds capital projects for small businesses and community infrastructure in order to help improve productivity and strengthen the rural economy and rural communities.

The Fund is a rural top-up to the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF) and is available to eligible local authorities in England. It supports activities that specifically address the challenges rural communities face, and is complementary to funding used to support rural areas under the UKSPF. Funding is available from April 2023 to March 2025, and the addendum submission window for eligible local authorities runs from 3 October 2022 to 30 November 2022.

The Leicestershire Districts that have been allocated funding are as follows:

Harborough District Council - £709,681

Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council - £400,000

Melton Borough Council - £400,000

North West Leicestershire District Council - £469,090
