Community Fridges

Have you heard about our Community Fridges volunteering project?

The Community Fridges project is run by volunteers and managed by the Children and Families Wellbeing Service in Wigston. This project aims to reduce food waste going to landfill by offering food for free to the local community sourced from local supermarkets and donations. This is an incredibly successful project which partners with over 5 different supermarkets and with local schools.

Volunteers collect food from supermarkets, which is going out of date and would otherwise be heading to landfill, and offer it from their base in Wigston. The Community Fridge is for absolutely anyone to come and use as their aim is to simply reduce food waste.
