Transport to appointments during the pandemic
A number of community based organisations are able to offer transportation to appointments for people in Leicestershire who are unable to get to appointments themselves.
Below is a list of organisations offering transport to appointments, including Covid vaccination appointments and other medical/healthcare related appointments.

Commbus is working with North Blaby GP practices and South Blaby GP practices, offering transport to vaccination appointments to residents in the patient areas served by these GP groups. Mon – Fri 9am – 12pm
Vaccination transport requests are passed to Blaby District Council, who co-ordinate the bookings and liaise with Commbus.

There is a charge for journeys, but this is at a subsidised rate and is dependent on location and destination.

Hinckley & Bosworth Community Transport
Free transportation to Covid Vaccine Appointments, as well as other appointments and essential shopping trips, for elderly, disabled and vulnerable residents of Hinckley & Bosworth.
A 16 seater minibus is also available to take up to 6 people to appointments, whilst maintaining Covid guidelines for safe distancing.
All volunteer drivers are DBS checked.

Community transport service provided by Westfield Community Development Association.
Transport offered to people in Hinckley and Bosworth to vaccination appointments, free of charge.

Lutterworth Community Transport
Transport for elderly and vulnerable patients to vaccination centres/appointments in the Western half of Harborough district.
Transport is via car journeys and/or minibus trips with reduced seating, to maintain safe distancing, sanitising and other appropriate precautions.

MRC Community Transport
MRC Community Transport is open and covering essential health related appointments only during lockdown, for residents living in North West Leicestershire, including Markfield.
The scheme also covers Blackfordby and Smisby which are on the Derbyshire/Leicestershire border.
We are covering any person who needs transport for the Covid Vaccination, which in North West Leicestershire is at Measham Leisure Centre.
Currently charging £7.50 return payable on the day to the driver

If you, or someone you know, or someone you care for would like to register for support from the volunteers or have any questions about the NHS Volunteer Responder programme please call 0808 196 3646 (8am to 8pm, 7 days a week).
Voluntary Action LeicesterShire (VAL) also have a pool of volunteers who are helping with the pandemic response in communities.
VAL can also help to find volunteers who can drive people to their vaccination appointments, if people are unable to source support from other community transport schemes.

For people who are able to attend a vaccination appointment at the Peepul Centre in Leicester, Uber are offering free journeys (up to £15) to and from the Peepul Centre.
The code people will need to use when booking an Uber journey to the Peepul Centre, for their vaccination, is UberUKMP
