Flood Warden Information Day

Are you a Leicestershire Flood Warden? Don't miss our information day!

All Leicestershire volunteer Flood Wardens are being invited to attend a flood warden information day on Saturday 7 March 2026 to support them in their role to prepare, protect and empower local communities during flooding.

The event, which is being organised by the Local Resilience Forum (LRF), will provide flood wardens with the latest information to help communities prepare for flooding and respond quickly if the worst happens.

There are currently 123 volunteer Flood Wardens in Leicestershire. They play a vital role in raising awareness of flood risk, acting as a local point of contact for flood information, and sharing official warnings and advice from organisations like the Environment Agency and Leicestershire County Council. Flood wardens should never enter flood water.

The information day will include:

  • updates on training and PPE
  • the latest flood response arrangements
  • an opportunity for discussion and questions

James Carter, Resilience Officer for Leicestershire, said: "Flood wardens are a vital link between flood agencies and local communities. This information day is about making sure our volunteer flood wardens feel confident, informed and supported so they know how to prepare people for flooding and keep them safe if it occurs."

The event will take place at County Hall on Saturday 7 March from 10am – 1.15pm

Attendees should report to the main reception.
Please note: this event is only open to existing flood wardens.
