Libraries Live Exhibition Launch at Newbold Verdon CML

Monday 9th September 2019, saw the launch of the Libraries Live project exhibition in Leicestershire. Libraries Live is an Arts Council England funded project in community managed libraries across 3 counties; Warwickshire, Leicestershire & Staffordshire. Launched in September 2018, 3 community libraries each had an artist in residence who worked closely with the libraries and their volunteers as well as the wider community to explore the theme of 'change' in libraries and the ethos behind communities working together. Participants were encouraged to share stories about volunteering and what libraries mean to them, what their aspirations are for the future and how libraries and communities can work together to achieve them. Following their residencies the artists each produced a commission piece for the touring exhibition which has already been on display at Glascote Community Library, Staffordshire and Water Orton Community Library, Warwickshire. The exhibition will be on display at Newbold Verdon Community Library until Monday 7th October 2019. Each commission piece will then be placed in the community managed library that inspired it's creation.
