The Friendly Bench - Bottesford

The Friendly Bench is a purposely designed, kerbside community garden. Bottesford created their Friendly Bench, as part of the initiative, in March 2018.

Sir Alan Duncan MP officially opened the first The Friendly Bench™ in Bottesford in March 2018. The Friendly Bench Bottesford community group provide regular opportunities for older, socially isolated and those with limited mobility in their community to come together in monthly volunteer-led activities and events at The Friendly Bench™. The group also enables neighbours from different backgrounds and generations to meet and enjoy a shared activity together. The group work closely with their Local Area Coordinator, as well as their local Housing Association, linking independent living residents with their wider community together. TFB Bottesford community group will also be running an intergenerational gardening project from The Friendly Bench™ partnering primary school children with elderly residents to build stronger connections and foster a sense of belonging and ownership. The group is run entirely by volunteers and by funds raised from funding activities.
