The Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) with the Partnership for Biodiversity in Planning have published new advice for town planners on Biodiversity in Planning. It examines the obligations and opportunities to promote biodiversity through the UK planning systems.

It is available to download for free from the RTPI website www.rtpi.org.uk/biodiversity

RTPI's advice responds to the decline in biodiversity in the UK. It will equip readers with a solid foundation knowledge about the key challenges relating to biodiversity and the current national statutory duties and guidance that should be addressed through planning. It offers practical pointers to support the integration of biodiversity into local policy, practice and individual development schemes through good practice examples.

The links between biodiversity and climate change are well documented. This advice forms part of their, (RTPI) wider work on climate change.
