Consultation on Melton Mowbray Distributor Road
Posted: Mon, 02 Oct 2017 10:20
Melton Mowbray's town centre suffers from traffic congestion especially during peak commuting times. Leicestershire County Council has worked closely with Melton Borough Council and partners to develop a recommended route for the creation of a distributor road around the outskirts of the town. The distributor road forms a key part of the draft Melton Local Plan which sets out a vision for sustainable growth in the Borough up until 2036.
The recommended route will help to reduce congestion within Melton Mowbray's town centre and provide access to future housing and employment growth areas in the Borough. The attached consultation brochure contains further information on the scheme.
Please fill out the questionnaire and provide your comments on the recommended route by 15th October 2017 through the following channels
- · Responding via the freepost address: Melton Mowbray Distributor Road Consultation, Room 300B, Leicestershire County Council, Have Your Say, FREEPOST NAT18685, Leicester, LE3 8XR
- · Visiting the website: www.leicestershire.gov.uk/MMDR
- · Emailing the council at firstname.lastname@example.org
The next step is to develop the design further and present it to Leicestershire County Council Cabinet to seek approval on the recommended route. If approved and subject to a successful government bid for further funding a planning application will be submitted in spring 2018 with an anticipated construction start date of spring 2020.
