SHIRE Community Grant 2019-20

The SHIRE Community Grant Programme for 2019-20 is now OPEN for applications.

To help deliver the priorities of Leicestershire County Council's Communities Strategy, the SHIRE Community Grant programme for 2019-20 will enable voluntary and community sector organisations (including social enterprises and Town/Parish Councils) to deliver community-based projects, services and activities which help to improve the lives of vulnerable people in Leicestershire.

Eligible organisations will be able to access large grants of up to £10,000 and/or smaller grants of up to £3,000 for community based projects and activities that are specifically focused on supporting vulnerable and disadvantaged people and communities.

We are particularly interested in funding new and innovative projects that will:

  • improve the lives, health and wellbeing of vulnerable and disadvantaged individuals and communities in Leicestershire
  • provide early intervention and prevention based solutions which help to reduce demand on Council and other public services
  • complement existing services already being delivered

To help you to ensure your project is likely to be eligible for funding, please have a read through the Proposal Form, particularly focussing on the 8 questions at the bottom of Page 1 of the document.

Once you have read through this document, and you think your project will be eligible for funding, please contact the Grant Officers to discuss your project proposal in more detail. The Grant Officers will provide further advice, before asking you to complete an online application form.

Applying for a SHIRE Community Grant

Please note we are currently experiencing some technical issues with the online Application Forms.

Please draft your application using the Word document templates which you can download from the Grant Application pages.

We would recommend you then transfer the information from your Word document into the online application form.

Before applying, please ensure you have read the SHIRE Community Grant 2019-20 Guidance Notes. The Guidance Notes contain important details about the criteria for funding, along with the Council's process for awarding funds.

Please ensure you have contacted the Grant Officers before submitting your application to confirm that, in principle, your project is eligible.

If you have any queries about the grant fund criteria or process, or if you would like to request an electronic or paper copy of the Guidance Notes, please call the Grants Officers on (0116) 305 7269 / 305 7020, or email: shiregrants@leics.gov.uk.
