SHIRE Grant Funding for Carers Projects

An opportunity has presented itself through Leicestershire County Council's Adults & Communities Department, to help community organisations in Leicestershire to provide support to carers.

Additional funding will be administered through the Council's existing SHIRE Community Grants programme, to enable more community-based support to be provided to carers.

A maximum one-off grant of up to £5,000 is available for community projects in the 2017-18 financial year

SHIRE Climate Change Grant Launch

Leicestershire County Council's SHIRE Community Climate Change grants scheme has been re-launched for 2017-18.

Groups and organisations are being encouraged to apply to help them to reduce their carbon emissions by improving their community buildings.

The grant fund is for community projects in Leicestershire (not Leicester City or Rutland) that help to improve the energy efficiency of community buildings and make local environmental changes to help reduce carbon emissions.

The Police and Crime Commissioner's Prevention Fund 2017/2018

The Police and Crime Commissioner's Prevention Fund recognises the important role local groups and third sector organisations play in reducing harm and helping vulnerable people to overcome their problems before they escalate into crime.

Lord Willy Bach has agreed to set aside £250,000 for 2017/2018 to support grassroots groups across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland which address the community safety goals outlined in his Police and Crime Plan. A further £250,000 will be available in 2018/2019.

Youth Social Action Fund Opens

Leicestershire and Rutland Community Foundation has announced the launch of the Youth Social Action Fund

Its about enabling and supporting Young people taking practical action in the service of others in order to create positive social change that is of benefit to the wider community as well as to the young person themselves.

Youth social action has huge potential to create enjoyable opportunities and skills development for young people, benefitting local people and places.

The Youth Social Action will provide funding of between £1,000 and £5,000 for each project.

The first deadline for applications is Tuesday 28 February 2017.
