End of 1st World War Commemoration Service

End of 1st World War Commemoration Service

Date: Sun, 11 Nov 2018, 16:00

Venue: Leicester Cathedral

The Event will be attended by the Lord-Lieutenant, the Lord Mayor, the Chairman of the County Council, and other civic dignitaries.

The service will be preceded by a half-muffled quarter peel of the Cathedral's bells and the service itself will be a poignant tribute featuring music, special prayers, and readings. It will be suitably reflective and incorporate a two-minute silent tribute, and conclude on a more joyful and optimistic note, focussing on the celebration of the cessation of hostilities and the subsequent hard-earned peace.

In order to ensure account of numbers for seating in the cathedral, could you complete and return the reply slip attached below, or reply by email to:

invitationsoffice@leics.gov.uk by 31st October 2018.

For those representing uniformed services and organisations, wearing uniform is encouraged and insignia, decorations and medals may be worn. Please note that given the tone of the service refreshments will not be served following the service.

I do hope that you will be able to join us, and will extend this invitation to those from your organisation who may also wish to attend this important service of commemoration.
