Welcome to Leicestershire Communities

Leicestershire County Council is committed to working in partnership with communities to improve the lives of people living or working in Leicestershire.

The Leicestershire Communities website is a resource which provides a range of useful information to help local people to actively participate in their communities. This includes individuals, i.e. residents who live in Leicestershire, as well as community groups who provide services for people in Leicestershire.

The website will allow the Council and its partners, including communities, to share information, including access to resources, which will support and enable actions that help us to achieve our aim of Building Great Communities in Leicestershire.

Why not join our 'Communities Network' to receive information on news and upcoming events, and to learn from others who are working hard to Build Great Communities in Leicestershire.

Working Together to Build Great Communities

The Leicestershire Communities Strategy ('Working Together to Build Great Communities') outlines how the Council proposes to work in partnership with key stakeholders to build on the positive contributions communities make in Leicestershire.

Delivery of the Communities Strategy is based on four priorities, which are underpinned by three key principles:

  • an increase in Volunteering
  • a focus on Social Action, and
  • supporting an Asset-Based approach

Examples of community-led projects and initiatives which demonstrate these principles can be found on our Case Study pages.

Would you like to get involved? Sign up to our "Communities Network" to join other individuals, groups and organisations who are helping to make Leicestershire Great!
